These terms govern your use of receptr, an AI text and chat receptionist for local businesses, operated by receptr by AJ AI, in Cincinnati, Ohio ("receptr," "we," "us"). By using the site or the service, you agree to these terms.
Plain-language summary. receptr answers your inbound texts and chats and routes them to you. It's an early-stage, founding-customer service: capable, but not a substitute for your own judgment. The AI captures and routes; it does not close deals, take payments, or give legal advice. You're responsible for getting consent to text the people you message and for the accuracy of what you tell us to say.
receptr provides an AI assistant that responds to inbound messages (SMS and web chat) on behalf of your business, answers common questions, captures lead details, and routes inquiries to you or your team. Specific features depend on your plan and configuration.
receptr is offered on a founding-customer basis. It is actively developed, and features, availability, and pricing may change. We do not currently offer a formal uptime or service-level guarantee. We'll be straight with you about what works today versus what's planned.
The AI is designed to capture and route inquiries. It is explicitly built not to:
AI systems can make mistakes or misunderstand a message. You are responsible for reviewing anything important before acting on it. We are not liable for decisions made solely on the basis of an AI-generated reply.
Don't use receptr to send spam or unlawful, deceptive, harassing, or harmful content; to violate anyone's rights; or to interfere with the service. We may suspend or end access for misuse.
Paid plans, fees, and billing terms are set out in your order, founding agreement, or checkout at the time you sign up. Our current founding offer (first 30 customers) is a $299/mo subscription for the Text plan, billed monthly from day one, with the standard $500 setup fee waived for founding customers. Voice and Agentic capabilities are available as paid upgrades. Your founding monthly rate is locked for as long as your subscription stays active, and you can cancel at any time. Subscription billing is handled by our payment processor. Unless stated otherwise, fees are non-refundable for periods already served. We'll give clear notice before any price change affecting you.
We own the receptr software, site, and brand. You keep ownership of your business content and the data you provide. You grant us the limited rights needed to operate the service for you (for example, to generate replies and route inquiries).
The service and site are provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that AI replies will be accurate or complete.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, receptr and AJ AI will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, revenue, or data. Our total liability for any claim relating to the service is limited to the amount you paid us for the service in the three months before the claim arose.
You agree to defend and indemnify us against claims arising from your content, your instructions to the AI, or your failure to obtain consent or comply with messaging laws.
You can stop using the service at any time. We may suspend or terminate access for breach of these terms or misuse. On termination, we'll help you offboard your data within a reasonable period, subject to legal retention requirements.
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Ohio, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules. Disputes will be handled in the state or federal courts located in Hamilton County, Ohio, unless your written agreement with us says otherwise.
We may update these terms as the service evolves. We'll update the "last updated" date, and material changes will be made clear on this page. Continued use after a change means you accept the updated terms.
